Remember your New Year’s resolutions? I have never made one last into February — except for this year. I set a goal to finally start writing and get published. Here it is September and I’m actually still working on it.
Blogging on the other hand, has not been my strong suit. But since today’s Gazette listed my byline with this blog on it I feel obligated to post.
And honestly, I have been feeling the blogging bug lately. So, everything below still is true and if you want to join the discussion, leave a comment!
Hey! I am loving this blog already!! I hope you keep it up so I can become your superfan. You summed up my exact feeling in post 2: I have never called myself a feminist but have always known that I benefit from them in a HUNDRED ways. Voting, having a job I like, being taken seriously – it’s hard to believe women ever didn’t enjoy what I enjoy today.
I’ve never read much literature on the subject of feminism and the movement, but did recently read a book called “Bold Spirit” by Linda Lawrence Hunt. It’s about a woman who walked across America in the 1920s and I was surprised to read what men seriously thought about women in those days. Besides believing they weren’t capable of much outside the home, they honestly thought women were too fragile for even moving around too much, like something we call today: ‘exercise.’ What the…
